SUPEROX-C | a free radical-fighting active ingredient

SUPEROX C-Kakadu-Plum

Superox-C from Lucas Meyer is an active ingredient containing Kakadu plum, an indigenous ingredient native to Northern Australia.

Kakadu plum is a unique superfruit and is known as the world’s richest source of vitamin C. The plum comes from a medium-sized tree that produces fruit that looks a little like a grape. The fruit is green and about 2cm long, 1cm wide and contains a single seed.

History

Aboriginal people residing in the northern parts of Australia have eaten Kakadu plums for thousands of years. The fruit was also traditionally pounded and used as an antiseptic and soothing balm for aching limbs.

The power of the Kakadu plum

Kakadu plum originates from a place exposed to an extremely high sun index with harmful rays all year round, and has consequently developed a highly efficient self-defence system. The fruit contains various powerful antioxidant molecules to protect it against violent sun-induced free radicals attack.

100 x more powerful than an orange

Kakadu plum has been identified as having the world’s highest vitamin C content. In fact it is 100 times more powerful than an orange! It also contains large amounts of polyphenols. Due to its amazing antioxidant composition, it is classified as a superfruit.
Because of this, Superox-C has very strong antioxidant activity.

How free radicals cause skin damage and aging

Free radicals are molecules that become unstable due to losing an electron. These damaging, unstable molecules are caused by pollution, cigarette smoking as well as harmful UV rays from the sun.
Free radicals can cause skin damage and aging by contributing to protein degradation and DNA mutation (which can cause cancer). For information, please see our blog here.
Free radicals are neutralized by antioxidants. Antioxidants supply these unstable molecules with an extra electron, thereby stopping and preventing them causing damage. This is why Superox-C is such an effective raw material in the fight against aging.
